Robert Sternberg, an American psychologist, says that love in an interpersonal relationship has 3 basic components which are intimacy, passion and commitment. These three love components combine forming 7 types of different love. Which is your type?

Nonlove
This love only has intimacy. Between the individuals there is physique and emotional intimacy. Both parties feel a warm relationship but not with deep emotion or long commitment. You won’t feel objected when your best friend has to study or change job in another city right? In this love friendship there is no bond which force both party to be always together.

Infatuation
Often called love at the first sight. Love that struck the eye and pour down to the heart. When we see the object of love, there’s a passionate to be always together. Eventhough there is no intimacy built with the love object. Passion is the only component present in this love relationship. There’s no emotional intimacy inbetween. Which is why, Infatuation is easy come easy go.

Empty Love
In this love there’s only commitment. Many loves changed into an empty love with the passage of time. Relationship which was warm and passionante turned into an empty because intimacy component has bleached. But in a arranged marriage or relation what usually happened is the opposite. The couple starts with an empty love (forced intimacy) and as the time passed intimacy and passion were built up.

Romantic Love
Couple in this relationship looks happy together because there’s an intimacy. Besides that, a romantic couple also has deep passion unto one another. Which is why, this couple is called drunk in love. Eventhough, they are not always want to be together. In this relationship there’s no commitment because more often it limits the love’s pleasure itself.

Companionate Love
Can also be referred to as a loyal love. This type of love often present in marriage or a long term relationship. Usually the passion is gone but there’s still intimacy and strong commitment. In general, campanionate love is stronger than friendship love because there’s a commitment. Apart from marriage, companionate love can be found on strong bound between families.

Fatuous Love
Blind Love, named that way because it is formed only by passion and commitment. It looks big but there’s no intimacy that can stabilize the relationship. Blind love may cause negative effect because of the sense of owning and stranding the person. Proved by there’s no sense of trust between the couple.

Consummate Love
People call it the true love. This is the dream love. The most perfect with the presence of all components;intimacy;passion and commitment. The three components has tendency to make the relationship stabile. Commitment in this love is based on respect and passion of strong belonging. This what makes true love ever lasting comparing to other kind of love.

Game Nostalgia

Amazing how console controller has evolved in 25 years. I got this image from likecool. Special thanks to Damien Lopez, the man behind these console controller arts. Somehow I feel nostalgic just by looking at them. Recalling how many hours spent during my school days sitting in front of the big tv tube with those controllers in my hands. With my mom scolding telling me to put them down and start my study.

These things are part of my life, somehow part of them is what shaped I am today (lazy, sitting doing nothing useful attitude). I used to think I am pretty good with gaming knowledge, recalling my gaming expereince from the NES era until now. But heck, seeing this image, I don’t even know what are Tandy, Tennis, ColecoVision and all those old stuffs, not sure if I was even born by that time. I guess Damien Lopez really did his research, or he really played all of those….

Pasat’s Auntie Wisdom

Surprisingly wisdom words can come from the most unexpected place. I never expect I could learn something over some little eavesdropping conversation between two aunties in a pasat (hokkien for wet market). Actually I am exaggerating, it’s a department store but it was crowded like a wet market. Anyway, one auntie is a seller, she was selling some expensive snacks, claiming the candies are product of excellence in taste and quality. The other auntie is an undecided buyer, not sure whether she should buy the nice looking snacks or save that money to buy something else. Here roughly how the conversation went on

Auntie Buyer : “Auntie, your snacks looks nice but it’s so expensive ler..”

Auntie Seller : “You have to try ler. You know life on earth is not long, you save money alot for what? Eventually you’ll die and you’ll regret for not trying things for life just because you want to save money. So if you can afford it, go grab it! You have to try things at lesat once in your life.”

In the end I don’t know if the auntie managed to sell her snacks as I was in a hurry and didn’t follow their conversation. Anyway, I am not sure whether the auntie really live her life in spend all must try attitude OR she simply say it to get customer buy her products and actually live a life of the totally opposite of what she’s saying LOLZ. Regardless of her intention, here is my thought. It’s true life is just a one time only, unless you believe in reincernation thingy in which I don’t There’s no turning time in life, no restarting if things got f-ed up, so generally human try to give in their best to avoid having regrets later on. But just let’s just not forget what are needs and what are wants. Frankly speaking I tend to understand what are my needs and sometimes trapped to get my wants, things that are not really necessary, unimportant. Well, thanks Auntie seller for the good reminder Hope you have a good business and I will be waiting for the next wisdom from you

Japanese Loves Hotel – Love Hotel

I don’t know about you, but I think the wackiest country in the world is Japan. Recently a good friend of mine pass in this article from gaijintonic which shows some of the greatest love hotel theme in Japan. I suggest you read the interesting article if you have the time. Apparently what makes these love hotels so appealing despite all the funky,weird, wacky theme to Japanese is simply because they want privacy. If I can quote from the article I mentioned article earlier “In Japan, people are often inexplicably content to live with their

want to get down to some hanky panky without Mum strolling in with a
cup of tea.”

IT People has Low EQ?

I just stumbled a rather interesting article saying there’s this stereotype that IT people has lower EQ compared to other person say in Finance, HR and so on. Well, I have two different views on this.

First view, regardless I like it or not I was graduated from an IT college and currently working in IT company so I am pretty much an IT guy. Unlike common perception, life in IT is not always boring, actually it’s kinda entertaining. I am able to see some secretive data like financial year report, people’s salary or how some people claim to have family of 5 children where the truth they don’t have any children for the sake of cutting tax. In other hand, most of the time we are invisible. People tends to take things for granted, if everything is working fine somehow IT guy seems to be non-existent. Nerd with no-life hiding in the corner having his orgasm with a box called PC. But when some problem arises, there it is, people expect IT guy to shoot all their problems like superhero!

Somehow this is a typical stereotype of IT people in the society. Introvert, very good techically, prefer to deal with machines rather than people, geeky, nerdy, no social life,etc,etc. I admit although I am not on the extreme but most of the things mentioned above I have them in me.

The questions are: Does IT people really has low EQ? Are IT people just made to be good with machines and bad in buiding relationship with people? Or Is it the environment, the working place that made IT people behave in such a way?

Back to the article by Anthony Dio Martin (the article was written in Bahasa Indonesia), he mentioned that characteristics of IT people are (1) Uses more IQ than EQ in working (2) very little emphathy and seldom uses emotion in taking action (3) Hardly socialize with other people (4) tehnical (job) oriented rather than people

Things get worsen coz IT people tend to socialize with other IT people only. I personally feel that sometimes it’s difficult to talk with non-IT guy as I dunno how to start a topic, or the topic soons get dry. People who knows me in real life know what I mean

The interesting point is, he mentioned that people tend to not be fair with their colleagues in IT. IT guys is treated only as troubleshooter, if there’s a problem. If anything goes right, there is no appreciation. Lucky for me, my client is not that bad (yet)

The second point, IT guy seldom being involved in important decision making, only when the technical problems arise they are involved. Another point, IT guys are branded as Nerd, being left alone. Which is why he mentioned why EQ is important for IT guys nowadays. As IT becoming more and more vital to an organizaiton nowadays, IT people have access to many important areas of the organization from the company’s information, financial, employees’ personal information, etc. Imagine that if the IT guy is mischiveious and malicious, those data can be used in the wrong way. Without a good EQ, IT tends to have conflict with other parties. And also, this is also a challenge for people in IT to overcome these false stereotypes.

Enough of the stereotyping, what do you think? Do IT people has low EQ?

Love Dolls Phenomena

Although this is not the first time I saw the “love doll” video clip or picture before, but this guy is really something. As you can see from the video interview, his room is full of 26 human dolls! Freaky as it is, he treats those dolls as substitute of real girls because he said real girl cheats, tell lies and so on unlike these ermm…dead girls? Just looking at them make me imagine what if the girls come alive in the middle of the night and have revenge to the owner. Oh man…how he can tell one girl from another. I guess they feel different and taste differently?

Knowing from the clip that there’s a company who has been in this love doll market for 30 years is quite saddening that for quite a long time some people are so afraid with real interaction that they are building their own world, playing with their own toy of comfortness, avoiding responsibility of what is really happening.

Makes me think…am I getting closer and closer to that line…?

Blood Type Response

Few days back I got this forward email which surprisingly showing the translated blood type comic which Donna and I did few months back. My first reaction was OMG! This is what we did! and now the pictures sort of returning back to me. Although our job was simply translating and putting it nicely in the balloon box but somehow it feels great when our effort is circulating on the internet. Of course the greatest appreciation goes to the original Korean author “realcrazyman” for the wonderful comic he has created for us. Thanks to you all!

Most likely you have seen all the English-translated Bloodtype comic at Donna’s blog, but anyway without further delay (I know it’s been weeks since my last post on it) here are the remaining comics as token of appreciation to you all!
